The white rhinoceros is becoming a rare sight in the wild where poachers are killing hundreds each year for their horn which is wrongly thought to have unique properties in traditional Chinese medicines. If the poaching is not stopped soon these magnificent beasts will be lost to the world in a very short period of time.
It is unlikely that an animal as striking as the one in this picture would be found in the wild but drawn as a night shot being backlit by moonlight shows the immense bulk and beauty of this prehistoric looking creature.
