The great grey owl is one of the largest owls in the world, and the largest to live in the northern hemisphere. The most obvious feature of a great grey owl is its large facial disk of feathers which directs sound towards their ears. The Great Grey Owl is one of the most iconic of birds with the almost symmetric rings surrounding the eyes making it immediately identifiable.
This particular drawing shows off the inquisitive nature of the owl with the quirky tilted headed pose. In reality owls are often seen doing this as they try to work out position, perspective and distance between them and their prey.
